Mitigating Mass Incarceration
A call to action program
In development
What is it?
Mitigating Mass Incarceration is a community-based mitigation program that brings individual skills, talents, vocations, and resources to our folks who face incarceration. When we fortify our community through sharing our collective power, we divest from a culture of carceral dependence. We build places of belonging for folks who face incarceration, and we work as a people to end mass incarceration.
How?
Through the tools of mitigation film, short form podcast, and holistic defense strategy, we use an interactive media platform to build community-based alternatives-to-incarceration and mitigate one prison sentence at a time.
The theory is that we have a population of folks who are vulnerable to incarceration and a population of folks who are looking for ways to effect change. By building a bridge between these populations, we build collective models of mitigation.
